I’m Michael Nguyen. Out for Lunch.
Welcome to my corner on the internet, where I talk about technology, my professional journey, and my pursuit to learn computer science. I'm Michael Nguyen, a self-taught tech enthusiast whose journey through programming, supply chain management, and data visualization has been anything but conventional.
My diverse experiences have allowed me to create innovative, efficient, and user-centric technology solutions. I am driven by the continuous pursuit of knowledge and the application of my skills to solve complex problems. I've been inspired to learn in public after reading Swyx's post. I hope to help or inspire at least one person with one of my posts, the way many other obscure/niche blogs have done for me.
I started by hacking together drop shipping websites for clients with Joomla! 3. I developed foundational skills in web development, exploring PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This journey then led me through Magento 1 and 2, enhancing my expertise in e-commerce, to my current focus on Shopify, where I've multiple online storefronts. Simultaneously, I’ve ventured into Python, hacking together some rudimentary scripts for automation, and analyzing various datasets involving sales and inventory managementto expand my technical repertoire.
Beyond web developement and coding, my current roles primarily focus on systems and IT, particularly with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. It has given me insights into the integration of technology in business processes in a way that I never thought would be relevant to me. In supply chain management, I’ve tackled procurement and replenishment in challenging environments post-pandemic, emphasizing the importance of streamlined processes and data-driven decision-making.
